600 g rump steak

250 g pkt haloumi cheese

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp dried oregano

2 tbsp lemon juice

sliced cucumber and lemon wedges to serve


  • Cut beef into 2cm cubes. Cut haloumi into 1cm cubes. Toss beef and haloumi cubes in a bowl with olive oil and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper. Soak 8 bamboo skewers in cold water for about 10 minutes before using
  • Thread the beef and haloumi onto the skewers, starting and finishing with a beef cube. Preheat the barbecue flat-plate or char-grill plate to moderately-hot before adding the skewers
  • Let the beef skewers cook on one side until moisture appears before you turn. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side. Drizzle beef skewers with the lemon juice in the last minute of cooking
  • Remove from the heat and cover loosely with foil, rest skewers for 3 minutes before serving. Serve with sliced cucumber and lemon wedges
